1. People voted for Obama, and Obama screwed them over. They got tired of Obamacare, they got tired of Obama apologizing for America's existence. They got tired of watching American energy independence crumble. They got tired of illegal immigrants leaving them unemployed.
So, when faced with four more years of Obama or Donald Trump, they chose Trump.

2. People were fed up with The Left. People were fed up with being called racist. People were fed up with being called sexist. People were fed up with liberal elites claiming victim status while pushing to remove the first amendment rights of those who disagree with them. People were fed up with political correctness infecting every facet of their life.
So, when they saw a candidate who pulled no punches, they threw the lever for him.

3. People stood up to radical Islamic terror. They hated that so many Islamic radicals were killing so many people. They hated the fact that they weren't shocked when they saw reports of a terror attack on the news.
So, when they heard Trump's plan to crush Islamic terror, they voted for him.

I'm going to try not to write a whole big thing but I'm probably going to fail. Obviously you know I'm a Democrat by my name, but I'm doing my best. Anyways, a lot of people have the same opinions as Trump and others don't. They are more conservative while Clinton is not. A lot of people agreed and voted for Trump. That is a fact that no one can deny. But the only reason he won the election was because of the Electoral College. The original purpose of the Electoral College was to make sure the citizens of the US did not make a huge mistake in choosing their president, so they would have people called Electors do some voting of their own. But now, we have seen instances where it takes away the voices of the people at end-game. As you might know, there is also a thing called the popular vote. That is the vote that  you  make. You go into a voting house and you vote. That is part of the popular vote. You and the rest of the nation, of course. But in this particular election and three others, the candidate that won the presidency did not win the popular vote, aka the voice of the people. This has happened to Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Samuel J. Tilden, and Grove Cleveland. This is why Donald Trump won. Yes, he had a lot of people that voted for him (62,984,825 people, to be exact) but more people voted for Hillary Clinton and actually wanted her to become president (65,853,516 people.) I obviously failed trying to write something small, but oh well. Peace fam.
It's great that this isn't a democracy, then. Otherwise we'd have another President Clinton.

the country is diversifying quick, and with that said, it exposes a lot of hidden problems like racism, sexism, segregation, and different kinds of inequality. ever since obama was elected, the democratic party has fought for policies that cater more to people who are discriminated against and who do not have the same economic opportunities (the poor and minorities). while republicans have stuck to their white base. so imagine how white people felt when trump promised to make america great again...the racist, xenophobic connotations of that slogan are incredible...white people would now be the focus of economic and social policies, they could comfortably enjoy their privilege and intrinsic social status without worrying about black lives matter or the keystone pipeline or migrant crises from around the world. i think when white people were in the voting booth they recalled all the times they were labeled racist and privileged and avenged that by voting for trump. also...people really did not like clinton...i know she's linked to scandal after scandal but people really believed all these fake right-wing conspiracies about her. i think the nonstop fox news narrative of bengahzi sealed hillary's fate honestly. and both sides played identity politics..but in different ways..hillary campaigned on bringing peoples differences together ("Stronger Together") while trump tried to isolate and demonise those who supported clinton or those who didn't support either candidate. i honestly believe that law professor, lawyer, childrens defense fund worker, first lady of arkansas, first woman on the board of walmart, first lady of the usa, twice elected new york senator, secretary of state and head of two charity organisations - scandals and everything - had good intentions and its sad.

This is why Trump is President. People who think that everyone who disagrees with them is racist. It's not like Trump supporters have a different political viewpoint than you, it's just that they're racist, sexist, homophobic, trans-phobic bigots.

But I do want to make the most of this opportunity. It's not often that you see such an outspoken Leftist on the forums. Tell me, how do you deal with black, female Trump voters? Is it racist to disagree with them? Are they sexist and racist towards themselves?

Well, since you asked...

○ A lot of the U.S is religious, and religious people typically lean towards the more conservative right side of the political spectrum. And, well, he was the Republican candidate, so..

○ He was the most mentally sound of the candidates (believe it or not)

○ He wasn't involved in any scandals [that were actually legit]

○ He actually promised change. Clinton (who I'm only using as an example because nobody cares about the other parties) didn't really have anything going for her other than being a woman and not being Trump. A lot of people disagree with [a lot of] what he promised/promises (myself mostly included), but he at least promised things and is actually working towards them.

I'm sure he won't be the greatest president ever, but hopefully he won't be the worst. I know you don't like him, but try and give him a chance. It hasn't even been a year yet.

In my opinion, we'd rather have a person that knows how to run a business than a person that lies about stuff.
