Day of Silence is coming up this Friday, April 20th. It's a national day of action when students across America refuse to talk in order to bring attention to how LGBTQ+ students feel in hateful environments. Legal Issues: Constitutionally, public schools have to respect our right to speak and not speak, but that free speech doesn't count during classroom time, so teachers can demand that you answer their questions. You can, however, remain silent before and after school and between classes. Your teachers might allow you to remain silent if you speak with them first. Please talk to me if you would like more information. Several people from my high school will be participating.
