Do You Think 'Under God' Should Be Taken Out of the Pledge?
I know that this is old news!
Tell me, do you think under God should be taken out of the pledge? Why or why not?
I think it should stay. Just because a couple of atheists don't want it in the pledge doesn't mean we have to deal with it.
So, what do you think?

I don't think it's necessary in the Pledge of Allegiance. Actually, it's only a recent addition. Before 1954, there was no mention of god in the pledge. This is coming from a Canadian, but if I lived in the United States, it would be a non-issue. It was pointless to add it to the pledge, and should be removed.

God has no reason to be in our pledge. It IS offensive to some people who have a different religion or have no religion.
But mainly, it really doesn't belong in our pledge.. I have no idea why it was added in there in the first place!

They added it due to the Cold War, and fears of Communism, which apparently supported Atheism. It was meant to differentiate America from those god-hating communists. At least, that's what I've been taught. However, not all Atheists are Communists, and not all Communists support Atheism.
