Brett had been a Magic player for years but took a two-year break. His buddies got him to start playing again. He picked up a wicked deck of Magic cards and hopped on a bus for the Denver Grand Prix.

Twenty-four hours later, he climbed off the bus and began kicking butt at the Grand Prix. His blue, black and green neo-Kowal deck blasted through the competition with snakes, zombies and the super-popular Fact or Fiction card.
In the quarterfinals, Brett whooped Mike Abraham 2 - 0 and surprised everyone by beating Darwin Kastle, a veteran player, 2 - 1. Brett advanced to the final round against Daniel Mandel - a star player from Your Move Games.
Brett won the first round when his zombies chewed on Mandel's brains until he lost all his life points - munch, munch, munch. Round number two was a slugfest of creature cards that ended as Mandel pounded Brett flat with a giant hippo to tie it at 1 - 1. The tiebreaker was a toe-to-toe match where Brett had a one-card advantage. The two players fought with everything they had. Finally, Brett blasted Mandel's two remaining creatures and stomped him with a Spiritmonger for the win.
Brett kicked some serious butt with his skills and took home over $2,000 in cash, plus an invite to the Pro Tour tournaments where $200,000 is up for grabs.
