1 Hey Coach,
How come some guys don't call volleyball a real sport at my school? Is there something that is needed to be a "real sport?" Or do guys say this because they can't play volleyball?
rebounding_fool

Hey rebounding_fool,
Volleyball is definitely a sport - even if some of the guys at your school make fun of it or say it's not. There are many different explanations of what makes an activity a "real sport." Some definitions say it's any competitive activity that requires physical skill. Other definitions say the activity must involve two people competing against each other and have a way of measuring performance, like a stopwatch or a scoreboard.

Whatever the defintion, volleyball qualifies as a sport and is played by both guys and girls. The guys at your school probably say volleyball's not a sport because they don't know how to play or just don't understand the rules. The next time you hear them say volleyball's not a sport, spike the ball at their head.

1Hey Coach,
I'm the captain of my school's cheerleading squad and my boyfriend is the b-ball captain. I asked him if he likes me because of me or because I'm a cheerleader and his response was, "I don't know." That really hurt me and I don't know what to do. Help!
Babygirl

Hey Babygirl,
You asked your boy a confusing question, which is why he answered the way he did. Girls ask their boyfriends questions that make no sense all the time, which is why guys usually come up with answers like, "I don't know." I've never met your guy so I don't know what he's thinking - but he might like you for a bunch of reasons including the fact that you're a cheerleader. Being a cheerleader is part of who you are - just like being a basketball player is part of who he is.

You need to ask him, "Are you going out with me JUST because I'm a cheerleader?" If he says, "I don't know" to that question, then you should try to find a new boyfriend - maybe there's a cute guy in the chess club. You should also ask yourself if you're going out with him just because he's the captain of the basketball team.

Do you have a question on sports, P.E. class, rules to sports, fitness or health? to the Kidzworld Coach. Keep in mind peeps, the Kidzworld Coach isn't a doctor or a professional athlete or anything like that. He's just a dude who digs sports, plays 'em and knows a lot about 'em. You should always talk to your 'rents, a doctor or your school gym teacher before starting a new sport or a new exercise.
