Emily Copeland Takes Gold at the X Games
Emily Copeland edged out defending champion, Dallas Friday, to win the gold medal in wakeboarding at the 2002 X Games. Emily sealed the gold when she landed an off-axis 540 in the finals. It was a sweet victory for Emily who had to settle for the silver medal at the last two X Games.

Curt Schilling Wins No. 20
Curt Schilling showed why he's one of the best pitchers in baseball with a dominating performance against the Chicago Cubs on August 16th. Curt tossed eight plus innings to become the first pitcher to win 20 games in 2002. The Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher struck out 12 Cubs during the win including homerun leader, Sammy Sosa, twice.

Chamique Holdsclaw Wins WNBA Scoring Title
Chamique Holdsclaw made WNBA history in 2002 by becoming the first player to lead the league in both scoring and rebounding. Chamique also led the Washington Mystics to their best ever regular season and helped the team win their opening playoff game against the Charlotte Sting.
