Bindi Babes - The Dhillon Sisters
Geena, Amber and Jazz Dhillon are sisters of
Indian descent who live in
England. Geena is a
flirty 14 year-old who yearns to
redecorate her bedroom, while 11 year-old Jazz wants her
ears pierced. Amber, the book's narrator, is 12 and dying for new running
shoes. After their
mother died, their father started
working long hours, allowing the girls to get take-out dinners, stay up late and watch endless TV every night! Needless to say, they don't want anyone messing with their routine.
Bindi Babes - Auntie Moves In
One day, the girls' father comes home early and breaks the news that his
sister is coming from
India to help out. Before the girls know it, Auntie has arrived and their
freedom is gone. Pretty soon, she has said no to everything that they want and has given them new
rules like being in
bed by 10:00pm and no TV!
Bindi Babes - The Plan
Amber comes up with a
brilliant idea to find a husband for Auntie so that she'll move out of the house and stop bossing them around. Amber sets her sights on her
teacher, Mr. Arora. The problem is, how will they get Auntie and Mr. Arora to meet? One sure-fire way is by
getting in trouble at school so that Auntie has to come and speak with him!
Bindi Babes - Time for Trouble
The girls do everything in their
power to get in trouble, but the teachers, sympathetic to their mom passing away, never get mad at them. They come up with a
new plan to make everything go wrong at the assembly for the
school inspectors. Will it work? Will Auntie stick around? Will the girls
dig up the truth about her? You'll have to read it to find out!
Bindi Babes - The Bottom Line
Not only does
Bindi Babes offer fun and laughter, it touches on important subjects like the
loss of a parent, friendship, family,
culture and growing up. It teaches us that families come in all different shapes and sizes and its important to cherish those around you. If you're into cute,
girlie books that will keep your
eyes on the page, snap up this book the next time you roll into a book store.
