A classic cartoon that's been around for nearly seventy years is about to get a make-over. The Looney Tunes gang - Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, The Road Runner, etc. - are headed far into the future, and far from their old appearances for the new WB cartoon, Loonatics. Get the 411 on animated history in the making!

Looney Tunes Characters - History

Way back in 1930s, a cartoon was introduced to North America. Characters on this animated show included Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. Fast forward to 2005 and you'll find the Looney Tunes still on the air. There have been thousands of cartoon episodes and several full-length, Looney Tunes movies since it's birth and now those same characters are about to be featured in a brand new WB show called Loonatics. But, you'll soon notice that they're not exactly the same characters.

Looney Tunes Characters - Is the Future Friendly?

The WB has totally re-animated six Looney Tunes characters for Loonatics, which is due to air in Fall 2005. The characters that have been redrawn are Wylie E. Coyote, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Tazmanian Devil and The Road Runner. The cartoon will be set in the year 2772 and the characters are now crime-fighting superheros. The idea is that these new characters are descendants of the original Looney Tunes cast, so they will have similar names to their relatives. Example: the new version of Bugs Bunny is likely to be called Buzz Bunny.

Looney Tunes Characters - Messing With a Good Thing?

So what do you think? Are you a fan of the classic cartoon or are you looking forward to seeing some re-vamped Looney Tunes on your Saturday morning cartoon line-up?
