They wear the same shoes, drive the same cars and go to the same parties. So the recent wave of adoption-mania in Hollywood may seem like just another craze, but is that a fair assessment? We take a look at some of the most recent celebrity adoptions and why one in particular has raised so many eyebrows.

Celebrity Adoptions - Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia shortly before filing for divorce from her then-husband Billy Bob Thorton. Two years later she adopted her daughter Zaharah Marley from Ethiopia and less than a year after that she had a biological child with Brad Pitt. Brad has also adopted both Maddox and Zaharah and their last names have been changed to Jolie-Pitt.

Celebrity Adoptions - Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell and her partner Kelli Carpenter are parents to four adopted children Parker, Chelsea, Blake and Vivienne. The lesbian couple have been devoted defenders of the rights of gay parents and have even started a travel company for gay families called R. Family Vacations.

Celebrity Adoptions - Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman

Before their divorce, Tom and Nicole adopted their daughter Isabella Jane and son Connor Anthony. The couple share custody and Tom Cruise is often spotted with his new flame Katie Holmes at Isabella and Connor's soccer games.

Celebrity Adoptions - Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

The godparents of rock and roll adopted their daughter's teenage friend after his mother died of colon cancer - a disease that Sharon has also faced. The boy, Robert Marcato, is featured in the second season of The Osbournes.

Celebrity Adoptions - Madonna

Madonna has raised more than a few eyebrows when she began proceedings to adopt a Malawian boy named David. She has been criticized for using her wealth and celebrity to bypass normal adoption law as well as having her personal assistant fly to London with David rather than take the toddler home herself. Madonna has faced her critics and said she is following the law.
