Music DVDs

Dec 27, 2006

If you're a music lover I suggest you check out the latest in music DVDs that are starting to hit your local music and electronic stores. DVDs aren't just about movies anymore. Musicians are getting in on the action in a big way. Many of your favorite artists are releasing DVDs of live concerts or DVD formats of their CD.

Why should I buy a music DVD over VHS (video) format? First of all, the sound on a DVD is recorded differently than it is for a video. It's recorded using up to eight-channel sound which makes the music crystal clear as if it was live. With Dolby Digital Surround sound it feels like *NSYNC's JC is singing in your living room. If you didn't know better you'd think he was about to tap you on the shoulder to pass the popcorn.

As for the picture - it's so sharp and colorful you'll see details you never saw before. The quality is as clear as those flat screen Sony TVs. Another cool thing about DVDs are the interactive menus and scene access. If you want to rewind the part where Nick Carter shakes his booty, you just select it like you would on a CD player. No holding down the button on your remote control. Another great thing about music DVDs are the special features available on some DVDs. They often include extra scenes or footage that's not available on VHS format.

With each visit to the music or electronic store I notice the selection of music DVDs is growing. Some DVDs to check out are *NSYNC's Making The Tour, Britney In Hawaii or Christina Aguilera's Genie Gets Her Wish. So before you pick up that BSB video think about upgrading to DVD. Get serious about your concert performance. After all, it's the next best thing to being there.
