Katherine Heigl is always the bridesmaid and never the bride in the romatic comedy 27 Dresses.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride - the story is as old as time. Can Katherine Heigl breathe new life into this traditional romantic comedy? Kidzworld's got the review!

Dressed for Success

Jane (Katherine Heigl) is a perpetually single girl who has been the devoted bridesmaid to not one but 27 BFFs and she has a closet full of poofy dresses to prove it. When she's not catering to their wedding whims, she fills her time by hopelessly crushing on her clueless boss George (Edward Burns).

Popping the Question

Unfortunately, George also catches the attention of Tess, Jane's sister, who quickly moves in for the kill. Within weeks George has proposed to Tess without really getting to know her. And, once again, Jane is asked to be a bridesmaid. But how long can Jane go on putting everyone's needs before her own? And can she really help plan a wedding between the man she loves and her own sister?

You Can't Hurry Love

Enter Kevin (James Marsden) who, unbeknownst to Jane, is the writer of the 'Weddings' newspaper column that she's read for years. But is the cynical Kevin hanging around for a shot at romance with Jane or a scoop on her "always the bridesmaid" lifestyle?

Bottom Line

Katherine Heigl shines in 27 Dresses, but she's the only thing extraordinary in this by-the-book romantic comedy. If you're a fan of the rom-com genre - heck, even if you've just seen one or two - you won't be surprised by a single scene in this standard chick flick. Still, if you're looking for a little pre-Valentines day fluff, this movie has it - 27 dresses worth.
