Dominic McGuire Talks Pranks

Mar 28, 2019
By: Simon

Washington Wizards' rookie Dominic McGuire knows a thing or two about playing tricks on people. Dominic, along with his fellow rookie teammate/partner-in-crime, Nick Young, have been invlolved in an all out prank war against their [KWLINK 10748]All Star[/KWLINK[/b] teammate Gilbert Arenas. In honor of April Foools Day, we interviewed this basketball prankster!

Simon: You and fellow rookie Nick Young have been part of an ongoing prank war with Gilbert Arenas. Where does that stand?
Dominic McGuire: It's still going on. We just haven't done anything in awhile. Gilbert is busy rehabbing, so it's been quiet, but it's not dead.

Simon: Did you win? What was the best prank on each side?
Dominic McGuire: But both sides got their shots in. Me and Nick snuck into Gilbert's house one time and went through his closets and showed up at the arena for the game wearing all of his stuff. We got his toaster too. He got us too though. We tried to sneak up on him in his house one day, but he knew we were coming and snuck out the back. We went all through his house and couldn't find him, so we left, and he was there waiting for us in our car out front. He got us good that time.

Simon: Is Gilbert as funny as he thinks he is?
Dominic McGuire: I'll give it to him. He's a wild guy. He does some funny things.

Simon: Have you always been a jokester?
Dominic McGuire: You know what's crazy? I'm not even the real jokester. Gilbert and Nick Young are a lot bigger jokesters than I am.

Simon: After all you've been through as a rookie as far as getting hazed, how much are you waiting for the chance to do it to upcoming rookies?
Dominic McGuire: It's not really hazing. You just have to know your place. You carry the equipment, put the balls away after practice...that kind of stuff. It's your introduction to the league. But I am looking forward to someone else doing it next year. The veterans are telling us now that we're still rookies until our first game next year.

Simon: Any advice for upcoming rookies who think they can out-prank you?
Dominic McGuire: When you’re a rookie, you have to know your place. Or else you learn the hard way. Always be humble.
