Tone your bod with Nintendo’s new Wii Fit exercise game for the Nintendo Wii! We review this fun kids game here.

The Nintendo Wii just turned the "get your butt in gear" mode up to 11 with the new Wii Fit game! It's an exercise game that comes with Nintendo's new Balance Board to track your movements so it can analyze your body and guide you through exercises from jogging to yoga and even balance-training. Will it get you super fit or leave you super fat? Here's the scoop with our Wii Fit game review.

Move Your Feet!

Rather than using a Wiimote controller, Wii Fit gives you the Balance Board - a pad that can weigh you and figure out what you're doing while you're standing on it and that's how you sweat your way through forty exercise games. From balance training to yoga and even multiplayer jogging, Wii Fit will track your BMI, evaluate your health and give you fitness updates as you get in shape by gaming!

Yoga, Balance Games and Fitness

The best part of Wii Fit is the Balance Board, it's a sturdy controller that can handle up to 330 pounds (no jumping jacks for elephants!) and does a great job of helping you work through dozens of [KWLINK 6680]exercises - even the super-precise balance ones! There are forty games, trainers to walk you through the basics, plus lots of chances to get your Mii into the game and have a ton of fun.

Fighting the Flab

As fun as Wii Fit is, it's not super hot as a fitness program. From sketchy health evaluations to so-so fitness games that are easy to cheat on, boring exercise instructors and nothing to help you design a 'Lose 10 pounds' fitness program, it's lacking. You also need to unlock a lot of exercises - what the heck?!?

Fit or Fat?

Nintendo's new Wii Fit is a lot of fun and the Balance Board is a great new way to play games. It doesn't have what it takes to be a full-on exercise program, but it's a great way to get your butt off the couch. Wii Fit is a solid start for fitness and if you dig it, grab a copy of Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party or get outside and go ride a bike - it's summer time after all!

Thumbs Up:

  • Lots of different exercise games.
  • Multiplayer jogging.
  • Get your Mii in the game.
  • Wicked Balance Board.
  • Yoga!

Thumbs Down:

  • Only one multiplayer mode! Two-player jogging.
  • Health evaluations = not super accurate.
  • Unlocking exercises? Shouldn't you be able to do them all?

Game Rating: 4
