    Alien Ant Farm Gets Its Start

    In 1996, four friends from Riverside, California came together to form Alien Ant Farm.Metal band, Alien Ant Farm's unique name came from a daydream. Terry Corso, one day while working a boring office job, daydreamed about humans being cultivated by aliens on earth - the same way ants are grown on an ant farm. All of Alien Ant Farm's members showed an interest in music from a young age. Dryden Mitchelll was influenced by his dad, who played guitar. Terry Corso listened to Kiss records, learned guitar, songwriting and the drums in a band workshop program. Mike Cosgrove taught himself the drums as a kid and later took lessons. Tye Zamora's first instrument was the guitar and he practiced by imitating Boston and Queen riffs.

    Alien Ant Farm Creates Their Own Big Break

    Alien Ant Farm began getting buzz around their live shows, which Tye describes as "very intense and chaotic." A few radio programmers heard the buzz and decided to add the band to their radio shows. In 1999, Alien Ant Farm released their first album with the sassy title Greatest Hits on their own label, Chick Music Records. The album won the title of Best Independent Album at the LA Music Awards. The band began playing club gigs with Papa Roach, and when Papa Roach began getting popular they spread the word about their friends, Alien Ant Farm.

    Alien Ant Farm Hits It Big

    Alien Ant Farm later signed to Papa Roach's New Noize label and released ANThology in 2001. The album contains the cover song of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, which has become a huge hit for the band. In 2001, Alien Ant Farm contributed a song, Good (For a Woman), to the American Pie 2 soundtrack and snagged a spot performing on The Tonight Show. Alien Ant Farm released its newest album, truANT, in 2003.

    Alien Ant Farm - Did U Know?
  • In 2002, Alien Ant Farm's Tour bus collided with a truck in Spain. Their bus driver died and Dryden Mitchell broke his neck but he has almost fully recovered.
  • Alien Ant Farm contributed the song Bug Bytes to the Spider-Man soundtrack.
  • Terry Corso and Mike Cosgrove were both in the band Brother Vibe before they joined Alien Ant Farm.
