Osgood is so good in goal for the New York Islanders, the Galaxy gets rocked by a major league earthquake and surprise, surprise... the New York Yankees are in the World Series.

1The New York Yankees are in the World Series for the fourth straight year after defeating the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series. The Yanks made the M's look like a Little League softball team playing with plastic bats. New York will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series which starts on October 28th in Phoenix.

1The biggest surprise of the 2001 NHL season is the New York Islanders, who are in first place in the Atlantic Division. The Isles, who haven't made the playoffs since Britney Spears was in junior high, are off to their best start in 25 years. One of the reasons is goaltender, Chris Osgood, who is undefeated this season and has two shutouts. Chris is still wearing the red goalie pads he wore while with the Detroit Red Wings and doesn't plan on changing to Islander colors until he loses.

1It looks like Michael Jordan has shaken off three years worth of dust and is back to the form that made opposing players and coaches cry like babies. MJ scored 41 points, including the first dunk of his comeback, during a pre-season game against the New Jersey Nets on October 20th. Some things haven't changed though. Jordan's Wizards still lost the game 102 - 95.

1The Los Angeles Galaxy was rocked by an earthquake on October 21, 2001 during the Major League Soccer finals played in Columbus. The San Jose Earthquakes got a goal from Dwayne DeRosario in sudden-death overtime to defeat the Galaxy 2 -1. The win caps off a great season for the Earthquakes, who finished last in the league during the 2000 season.
