Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds :: PC Game Review

Aug 25, 2020

Star Wars is full of classic battles - Rebel Alliance snowspeeders against Imperial AT-AT Walkers on Hoth, thousands of Gungan troops fighting hordes of Trade Federation droids and starfighter battles galore. Now you can take command and fight the battles you want.

Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is packed with six different armies - from Wookie Berserkers to TIE Fighters and Jedi Knights. You can even have heroes from the movies join you! Darth "who's your daddy?" Vader can kick serious rebel butt, Chewbacca himself can lead a wookie charge and there's more than one Jedi you'll recognize.

The action is good, the strategy is awesome and the Star Wars coolness factor is off the chart. What keeps Galactic Battlegrounds from being flawless are the graphics - they're old. The whole game is based on Microsoft's Age of Empires and they didn't upgrade the graphics so it isn't full of 3D effects and super-cool images.

Galactic Battlegrounds ranks up there with the best Star Wars games (but nothing beats Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight.) If you're into marching a legion of AT-AT Walkers across the ice fields of Hoth or want to lead Rebel troops to victory, this is the game for you.

How Hard Is It?

It's easy to learn the controls and the game isn't too hard either.
