Life on Mars?

Jan 16, 2009

Space experts say they’ve found large amounts of a gas that could be a sign of life on the red planet.

Methane was discovered on Mars five years ago, but it is usually destroyed by sunlight. However, since lots of the gas is still on the planet, scientists think that something is replacing the lost gas.

Still, this latest discovery isn’t proof there are little green (or red!) men living on Mars, because the gas can also be made by rock activity.

The space agency NASA is now planning to put a small science lab on the planet in the year 2012 to find out more.
