March Madness Schedule Set

Mar 08, 2009

Next to the NFL’s Super Bowl no sporting event in the United States is bigger than March Madness. Here is the 2009 March Madness Schedule:

First Round: March 19-20
Second Round: March 21-22
Third Round: March 26-27
Fourth Round: March 28-29
Final Four: April 4 and 6
The NCAA March Madness college basketball championship never disappoints. If you like your hoops then this is the chance to watch the best young basketball kids on the planet before they head off to the NBA.

The tournament takes over TV starting on March 19. Games tip off early in the morning and go all day and all night until they play down to the “Sweet 16”.

In March Madness, just one loss and a team is out and that means some pretty big surprises every year.

The tournament has been the stage for some of the best players in basketball history including Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and [kwlink1478]Michael Jordan [/kwlink]. Magic and Bird went head to head in the 1979 NCAA Basketball Championship setting the stage for what is likely the greatest rivalry in NBA history.

March Madness is usually packed full of upset teams, usually called the "Cinderella teams". Although it’s been a long time since a Cinderella took down the title, there always seems to be at least one underdog that beats down a couple of top schools. Last year it was Stephen Curry and the Davidson Bulldogs that ran all the way to the Elite Eight. This year? Who knows.
