Super Bowl Music Recap

1 Super Bowl was a couch potatoes dream! It was the perfect day to stay in your pajamas all day and stuff your face with pizza, chips and pop. It was a really exciting game but most of the musical performances were less than impressive.

1 During the Super Bowl pre-game show, Barenaked Ladies performed. No Doubt hit the stage too but they weren't up to their usual energetic performance. They performed their latest single, Hey Baby and Spiderwebs, an older tune from Tragic Kingdom. Gwen had long extensions in her hair and a strange outfit with short pants. Paul McCartney closed the pre-game show with his American tribute song, Freedom.

1 If you didn't run out to 7-Eleven for more snacks during the *ETRADE Super Bowl Halftime Show then you saw U2 live. This was the best performance of the day by far, although U2 was supposed to perform three tunes and only ended up performing two. (Maybe due to a late kick-off?) Bono rocked the stadium from the first line of Beautiful Day as he made his way through the crowd up to the stage. U2 followed up their first song with one of their early hits, Where the Streets Have No Name.

1 The stage set-up was pretty cool. There was heart-shaped outter stage, where Bono ran around, which circled the main stage. During the performance a huge piece of material decended and the names of the victims of September 11th scrolled over it. The names were listed alphabetically, but they were only at "F" when the song ended and the material was dropped.

I enjoyed U2's performance but I think last year's Super Bowl performance, with Aerosmith, *NSYNC and Britney, was more exciting. What did you guys think of the Super Bowl performers? Did anyone catch Britney's new Pepsi commercial?
