Kidzworld's Guide To The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards & 81st Annual Academy Awards

Aug 18, 2009

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday September 20th, 2009 at 8/7 central on CBS. Kidzworld gives you a sneak peak at the nominations and some predictions for who we think is going to come out on top!

Outstanding Children’s Program

  • iCarly
  • Hannah Montana
  • Wizards Of Waverly Place
  • Kidzworld’s Pick: Hannah Montana

Since Hannah Montana: The Movie was released this year, we think the buzz will catapult the TV show over its competitors.

    Outstanding Animated Program

  • Robot Chicken
  • The Simpsons
  • American Dad
  • South Park
  • Kidzworld’s Pick: The Simpsons

Now in its 21st season, The Simpsons becomes the longest running American primetime television series of all time so we think the Emmys will give the show its due.

    Outstanding Comedy Series

  • 30 Rock
  • Weeds
  • Entourage
  • Flight Of The Conchords
  • Family Guy
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Kidzworld’s Pick: 30 Rock

This season included lots of big guest stars like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Martin and Jon Hamm who plays Don Draper in another Emmy-acclaimed show, Mad Men.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

  • Steve Carell as Michael Scott in The Office
  • Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper in Two And A Half Men
  • Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock
  • Jemaine Clement as Jemaine in Flight Of The Conchords
  • Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk in Monk
  • Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory
  • Kidzworld’s Pick: Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is hilarious as Liz Lemon’s boss in 30 Rock. He won last year and although Jemaine Clement is great in Flight Of The Conchords, we still think Alec will come out on top.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

  • Sarah Silverman as herself in The Sarah Silverman Program
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Christine in New Adventures Of Old Christine
  • Tina Fey as Liz Lemon in 30 Rock
  • Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin in Weeds
  • Christina Applegate as Samantha Newly in Samantha Who?
  • Toni Collette as Tara Gregson in United States Of Tara
  • Kidzworld’s Pick: Tina Fey

Tina Fey heads 30 Rock—she’s the show’s creator, writer and star, so since 30 Rock has been nominated for 22 Emmys, the odds are good that she’ll take this one home.
