Spyro: Year of the Dragon :: Playstation Game Review

Dec 27, 2006

The best bits are the new characters. Sheila the Kangaroo, Bentley the Yeti, Sgt. Byrd the rocket-launching flying penguin (yeah, a flying penguin), Sparx the dragonfly, and Agent 9, the laser-toting space monkey. (Yeah, a space monkey) I dunno where he finds 'em but Spyro has the strangest friends. They've all got special powers, tons of attitude, and cool moves.

Tons of Spyrolicious action, 5 wicked bonus characters, great levels and some cool tunez to top it all off and Spyro really brings it home. Everything's good, nothings bad and the Space Monkey tells me that you should play this game. He also wants a banana.

The Forgotten World looks great. Smooth graphics, wild landscapes and some really cool levels rock. The baddies swap outfits depending on where they're lurking, lederhosen in the alps, knightly garb in the castles all with accents to match. They're none too hard to defeat but there's a ton of 'em so watch yourself. The levels are big bright and full of tricks, jumps and mayhem. You'll end up skateboarding, sub-hunting and tons of other stunts.

What's it about?

An Evil Sorceress has nabbed a bunch of way-cute baby dragons and disappeared into her Forgotten World. Time to call in Spyro, dragon hero extroardinaire.

Are the controls hard to learn?

No way jose, 10 mins tops.

How hard is the game?

Harder than Spyro 2 but still fairly easy.
