Tamyra Gray

Hometown: Tacoma Park, Maryland

Day Job: Tamyra Gray, 22 years old, teaches school when she's not singing her heart out.

Influences: Tamyra credits Prince as someone whose music she loves. In fact, her first concert - and the age of 16 - was a Prince show with a "bunch of girlfriends."

Web Trends: People on the Official Web site for American Idol think that Tamyra is a "diva" according to the Ego Meter Poll.

Tamyra Gray Poll: Tamyra Gray says her friends might be surprised to know that "From Saigon to Hanoi: Traditional Songs and Music of Vietnam is in my CD collection."

Nikki McKibbin

Age: 23
Hometown: Arlington, Texas
Current Home: Now Nikki calls Grand Prarie, Texas home.

Family Ties: Nikki McKibbin has a young son. According to dallasnews.com, four year-old Tristen watches his mom belt it out on American Idol all the time.

Cheesy Love Songs Anyone? Nikki seems to have a thing for the over-dramatic love songs. Nikki McKibbin's fave song of all-time is Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers and she sang the cheesiest love song ever, Total Eclipse of the Heart on one of the American Idol episodes. You wouldn't exactly expect that from a pink-haired punker like Nikki.

Injuries: Nikki McKibbin broke one of the toes during the rehearsals for American Idol and she still went on to perform in high heels. Ouch! Talk about suffering for your art.

Nikki McKibbin Quote:"I believe that Simon (the judge) speaks his mind and is real about what he says. That's admirable." Really? We think he is just evil.

Whichever is your vote for America's Idol, you can be sure that this hit series has been a great career move for all the peeps who belted it out on TV. And, Fox is so impressed with the response to American Idol that they've already started plans for an American Idol 2. Maybe Ryan Starr, A.J. Gill and some of the other fallen contestants will have better luck the second time around. Keep watchin' to find out who wins on Sept. 2, 2002 and log back on to Kidzworld for our review!
