NBA Finals 2010 - Paul's Curse

Jun 08, 2010

Do you believe in a jinx? If you’re a Celtics fan, you better hope not and since the Celtics are covered in Shamrocks and Leprechaun mascots, there is a bit of irony to this story.

Paul’s Problem

Paul PiercePaul Pierce

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics 91-84 in game 3 of the NBA Finals proving that Paul Pierce may have just jinxed the Celtics from winning the Championship. After game 2, when the Celtics beat the Lakers 103-94, Paul announced to the LA Fans that the series would not be coming back to Los Angeles. Well if that’s true now… the Celtics are goners.

If the Celtics have any chance of winning the NBA Finals now, the series has to go back to LA because the Lakers are now winning 2-1. The next two games are still to be held in Boston, but for the Celtics to win the series they have to win at least one more game back in Los Angeles.

The Lakers sure have a chance to make sure the series doesn’t go back to Los Angeles. If they win the next two games in Boston, they’ll win the Larry O’Brien trophy in front of the Boston fans. And you sure can believe that that is exactly what Kobe Bryant and the Lakers want to do. It may not be as exciting as winning the championship on home-court, but that’s a small price to pay. The championship parade through the streets of your home-city will make up for any lack of emotion lost during the game.

Reverse the Curse?

So what can Paul do to reverse his jinx? Well, the first thing he has to do is help the Celtics win game 4 Thursday night. Then after the game he should probably announce to his Boston Fans that the series is going back to Los Angeles.
