Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back is all about … you guessed it: chimps in space. A monkey named Comet goes to outer space, bonds with an alien and has a cosmic adventure. We’d love to say we loved this movie, but we didn’t.
Chimp or Chimps?
The title saus CHIMPS plural, but only one ape actually goes to space in Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back. That kinda sucked, and so did the fact that the “striking back” part was kind of lame.
Repeat, Repeat, Repeat
There are a few chuckles to be had in this film, but mostly it’s a snooze-fest. Some of the jokes drag on for way too long, like the one about the human technicians not “getting” the language spoken by the evil alien Zartog, which is repeated about four or five times (but who’s counting?).
3D? What 3D?
This DVD is supposed to be in 3D, but it’s hard to tell that feature’s even worked into the film. The animation seems off, with little background detail, and in some parts of the movie it seemed like the sound was outta sync – we’re pretty sure we saw some lip movements gone wrong.
