This Week In Sports: Toe Drag Terminator

Oct 07, 2010

This week in sports is now in full effect. With the NBA, NHL, and NFL seasons on the go, Baseball in the playoffs and the Premier League of Soccer running in Europe, let’s take a look at the top headlines in each of these 5 popular sports.

Do you know what a “Toe Drag” is? In the first game of the NHL season between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers, 20-year-old rookie Jordan Eberle pulled off a Toe Drag shorthanded and tucked a backhander upstairs over goalie Mikka Kiprusoff. Jordan scored two goals in the Oilers 4-0 shutout over the Flames, but you have to check out this goal.

Baseball Bonus

Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies pitched a no-hitter in the Phillies first game of the playoffs against the Cincinnati Reds. It’s only the 2nd time a no hitter has been thrown in the post-season of Major League Baseball. The first time was done by Nolan Ryan in 1973.

Since Roy (nickname – DOC) became famous for his incredible pitching to win the Phillies a World Series two years ago, he’s now known as Mr. Doc-Tober as he seems to save all his best performances for the month of October.

NFL News

KC CharacterKC Character

You could say that things are getting weird in the NFL this year. Only the Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten… Kansas City??? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a NFL season as unpredictable as this one coming.

NBA Notes – Lebron Lookout

Dwayne Wade was injured after playing only 3 minutes in the Miami Heat opener leaving Lebron James and Chris Bosh working a two-man show. Dwayne pulled his hamstring and had to leave the game but Miami dominated the game so bad, I don’t even know who was playing for the other team.

The Soccer Show

English Premier LeagueEnglish Premier League

The Premier League is the top level with the top players in the soccer world. Chelsea and Arsenal squared off in the game of the week in this league. Chelsea won 2-0 with goals from Didier Drogba and Alex. The goals were amazing.
