Fury Friends
Zhu Zhu Pets 2: Featuring the Wild Bunch for Nintendo DS is the much-anticipated sequel to Zhu Zhu Pets. Like the original game, players get to choose their own favorite hamster, but this time there are 17 new pets to choose from. Although you can only choose one pet at the beginning, players will have the chance to adopt others as the game goes on.
Pets at Play
Once a pet is chosen, players can experience two different modes: Nurture Mode or Adventure Mode. In Nurture Mode, players take care of their pet by feeding it, playing with it, putting it to bed and making it exercise. As the pet gets happier the bonus bar will rise and the nurture rating will increase.
In Adventure Mode, players travel to different areas in an attempt to solve various mysteries. In order to conquer each area, players need to wind their way through mazes, collecting coins and carrots. Each area ends with a race in which the player needs to place first.
Happy Hamster
While the concept is simple, the controls are frustrating. The only way to wind through the mazes is to use the DS wand, although it would feel more natural to use the control pad. In the end this just leads to less control of the hamster. Overall, the game is a great way for fans to play with their cute and fury hamster friends basically anywhere they can bring their DS. A limited edition of the game is also available, and comes with a bonus Nutters doll.
