American Idol: Season 10, Episode 11 :: Las Vegas Round

Feb 23, 2011

This week on American Idol (Season 10, Episode 11), the remaining 61 contestants sang Beatles tunes in hopes of making it into the top 24. Kidzworld reviews the Las Vegas Round, which aired on February 23.

Las Vegas Round – The Beatles

The constants flew to Las Vegas, where they performed Beatles songs in groups of two or three. For some, this challenge was a piece of cake. For others, especially those who knew little to nothing about the Beatles, it didn’t go so well. The 61 contestants were cut down to 40 after this round. Among those sent home was energetic and over dramatic Ashley Sullivan, who took a break from rehearsing to elope with her boyfriend in a Las Vegas chapel. Talk about romantic! (Not).

Final Solo Performances

After the cuts, the remaining 40 contestants returned to LA and performed last-chance solos, which viewers only got to see clips of as each person was either accepted or rejected from the top 24. We saw half the contestants make the long walk to the judges to learn their fate (we’ll see the other half on February 24). So far, these are the results:

  • Naima Adedapo, who has two kids and works as a grounds cleaner, is accepted.
  • Hollie Cavanagh, who almost didn’t make it passed the first auditions, is rejected. J-Lo tells her that she was outvoted, and if it was up to her, Hollie would have made it. Eliminated along with her are Lakeisha Lewis and Alex Ryan.
  • Clint Jun Gamboa, who kicked Jaycee Badeaux out of his group during Hollywood week, is accepted.
  • Haley Reinhart, who has a unique rasp to her voice, is also accepted.
  • Deandre Brackensick is rejected.
  • Paul McDonald, whose voice is unique instead of powerful, is accepted.
  • Ashthon Jones, who has been a stand out for J-Lo, is accepted.
  • And finally, Chris Medina, whose girlfriend was left with brain damage after a horrible accident, is rejected, much to J-Lo’s grief. While Chris accepted his fate without getting upset, J-Lo shed all his tears for him, and then some.
