Kidzworld had a chance to see an early release of Thor – the new movie based on a Marvel Comics superhero who just so happens to be the God of Thunder. Check out our review of Thor!

Rough Landing

The movie starts by giving you some background info on Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth): like we said, he’s the God of Thunder, he lives in a place called Asgard with his brother Loki and dad Odin … oh, and a bunch of enemies called Frost Giants (big, blue, made of ice). But when Loki tricks him into going against Odin’s orders, Thor gets thrown out of Asgard … and sent to (where else?) modern-day New Mexico.

Hammer Head

The thing about Thor is, he really isn’t that powerful without this really cool hammer that lets him make lightning and tornadoes and helps him fly. And, when he got cast out to Earth, his hammer (and all his powers) were taken away from him. So, basically, Thor becomes a “mere mortal.” Which could be depressing, except he meets a beautiful scientist named Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) – ah, love. Ultimately, Jane is the one who helps Thor in his attempt to get his hammer back and return to Asgard to stop Loki from taking over the show.
