For feathers’ sake! Rio comes flying onto DVD on August 2, 2011, and Kidzworld’s got the “bird’s eye view” of this funny, fantastic new animated 3D movie from Blue Sky Studios! Check it out!

Flying High

Blu is a baby blue macaw (that’s an exotic, brightly colored type of bird) living happily in the jungles of Brazil. Unfortunately, Blu’s joy is disrupted when he and many of his feathered friends are “bird-napped” and taken to Minnesota to be sold as pets. Blu ends up adopted by a girl named Linda, who grows up to become a bookstore owner.

Jungle Boogie

One day, a scientist named Tulio gets Linda to bring Blu back to Brazil to (hopefully) mate with a girl macaw to keep the species going. But when Rio meets Jewel, she tells him that she wants to escape back to the jungle. Before the two birds can “hatch” a plan, MORE kidnappers break in and take them back to a secret location filled with other birds.

Birds of a Feather

Now, we don’t wanna give TOO much away, but the rest of the movie is basically about Blu and Jewel’s crazy journey through the villages and jungles of Brazil – not to mention, all the funny, quirky characters they meet along the way, like a bulldog named Luiz and a quirky cardinal called Nico. If you wanna know what happens in the end, you’ll have to see Rio yourself!
