2011 World Series :: For the Squirrels

Oct 27, 2011

The Texas Rangers have never won a World Series title and it looks like they might win leading the Series 3-2… wait a second! Apparently the St. Louis fans are calling in a squirrel to the Cardinals roster for game 6. Can this "Rally Squirrel" help the Cardinals come from behind again to steal the World Series from the Rangers?

Squirrel Stardom

The squirrel’s name is Busch and he first became famous when he ran across the home plate during the Cardinals-Phillies Divisional Series match-up. The game was put on hold and the umpires had to catch the squirrel. It changed everything including giving the momentum to the Cardinals to win the series and eventually advance to the World Series against the Rangers.

Busch, the Rally Squirrel now has a twitter account and he is tweeting for a Cardinal-comeback as they trail the Rangers going into game 6. One more loss and the squirrel will have to go into hibernation and he says he’s not ready yet.

Cardinal fans are going squirrel crazy with squirrel superstition. They are bringing squirrel y stuff to the games, squirrel rally towels, selling squirrel toys to raise money for charity. They even have a squirrel rally song!

Game 6 of the World Series was rained out and postponed helping the squirrel’s rally from behind efforts by halting the momentum of the Texas Rangers as they have won the last two games.
