The Vampire Diaries: Season 3, Episode 8 :: Ordinary People

Nov 03, 2011

This week on The Vampire Diaries (Season 3, Episode 8), we learn the true origins of vampires. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Ordinary People”, which aired November 3, 2011, to discover what you missed.

In The Beginning…

In this week’s episode we get a full history lesson of where – and when – vampires originated. Alaric, Damon and Elena decipher the images found in the Lockwood’s hidden cave, and discover the names of the Originals (Klaus, Rebekah, Mikael and Elijah) scratched into the wall. Turns out Mikael, the vampire hunter who knows how to kill Klaus, is actually his father. Equally shocking? Mikael’s wife is the original witch, and her name is Esther.

Klaus’ family traveled to Mystic Falls to start a new life. They lived peacefully amongst the werewolves that already inhabited the land. But, during one werewolf transformation Klaus’ younger brother is killed. Esther turns her whole family into vampires so they can protect themselves from their enemies. And thus vampires were born. However, Esther put a special spell on Klaus, since he was already a half werewolf (due to an affair). Angered, he killed his mother, causing Mikael to hate him.

Better Together

Damon drops Elena’s plan and tries to find his own way to Stefan’s heart. He sets Stefan loose and the two head out to the bar for some good times. Unfortunately, Mikael ends up at the same bar, and threatens Damon for information. Stefan steps in to protect his brother, and Damon realizes there might still be hope for him yet. He convinces Elena they need a new plan to help Stefan get better.
