Like Valentine’s Day and Love Actually, New Years Eve intertwines the lives of many different New Yorkers as they wait for the ball to drop in Times Square! Kidzworld has the movie review!

The Plot

Katherine Heigl plays a head chef catoring a New Year’s Eve party for some of New York’s elite. Performing at the party is the famous musician Jensen (Jon Bon Jovi), who walked out of his engagement to Katherine a year ago. Now he wants her back.

Michelle Pfeiffer plays a timid middle-aged woman with few social skills. With the help of a young delivery guy, Zac Efron, she quickly accomplishes all of the items on her previous New Year’s resolution list.

Zac Efron’s best friend, Ashton Kutcher, hates New Year’s. After removing all the decorations from his building’s hallway, he gets into the elevator with the new girl, Lea Michele. The elevator breaks down, trapping them inside together, where they have their own New Year’s party.

After attending a wedding in the burbs, Josh Duhamel struggles to get his broken down car back to the city in time for his mother’s New Year’s party.

Sarah Jessica Parker plays a controlling single mom of a 15-year-old daughter (Abigail Breslin) who desperately wants to spend New Year’s Eve with her friends and crush.

Hilary Swank's first night in charge of the ball drop in Times Square goes awry when the ball stops at half mast and most of the lights go out. She scrambles to get it fixed in time for midnight, fearing that she might lose her job.

Robert De Niro spent his entire life alienating his loved ones. Now on his death bed, he’s holding on so he can see the ball drop one last time, with no one but a nurse (Halle Berry) to keep him company.

Jessica Biel and Seth Meyers play two expectant parents who are competing with another couple to win a cash prize: the first to deliver their baby in the New Year wins $25,000.

The Bottom Line

Talk about a stacked cast! While the movie had a ton of storylines, each couple had enough camera time to satisfy viewers. New Year's Eve may have received bad ratings from critics, but we think it’s a wonderful holiday film.
