2012 Stanley Cup Finals

May 30, 2012

The 2012 Stanley Cup Finals begin tonight between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils. This is pretty exciting for the LA Kings because they have never won the Stanley Cup and they are looking pretty good right now, and most people are picking them to win.

The LA Kings have been in the NHL since 1967 and they have only reached the Stanley Cup Finals once before this year. However, this year the Kings majestically knocked out the #1 Vancouver Canucks, St Louis Blues and Phoenix Coyotes only losing 2 games and going undefeated on the road. They truly look like they are the Kings of the NHL.

40 Year Old Goalie

On the other hand, Martin Brodeur may have something to say about the Kings throne. Martin has won the Stanley Cup 3 times with the Devils. His first cup was all the way back in 1995 and he is now 40 years old going for his 4th Championship. He is definitely the most experienced player and he knows how to carry a team on his shoulder.

The Devils also have new superstar Ilya Kovalchuck leading the league in scoring right now. Ilya was brought to New Jersey just last year to add his rifle slap shot to the Devil artillery and he is coming through bigger than ever right now.

Road Warriors

The Devils have home-ice advantage for this best-of-7 series, but that’s good news to the Kings fans because they haven’t lost on the road yet. If they continue to win all their road games, they will be the new Stanley Cup Champions!

Have your say...
