So You Think You Can Dance: Season 9, Episode 2 :: Audition 3

May 31, 2012

This week on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 9, Episode 2), the judges continue their audition tour in Los Angeles. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Audition 3,” which aired on May 30, 2012, to discover what you missed.

SYTYCD returned to its regular slot on Wednesday nights, so hopefully no one missed it. In case you did, here are the highlights:

Highlights

The judges met some amazing female dancers, including Alexa Anderson, Megan Branch and Eliana Girard. Along with some quirky and inspiring stories.

That’s Waack

Inspired by last season’s Princess Lockeroo and her new dance style called “waacking,” Jontel “Johnny Waacks” Gibson took to the stage. The judges liked his speed and precision so they sent him to choreography. Then came the hilarious twins James and Nick Aragon, who not only performed well, but also put on a comedy act with their quirky personalities. Unfortunately, being 32-years-old, they weren’t qualified for the competition so the judges couldn’t send them through.

That’s Unusual

Other great auditions included 18-year-old Sam Lenarz, who’s mom kicked her out of the house forcing her to move in with a friend; 25-year-old tapper Caley Carr, who was sporting an obnoxious mustache; and 27-year-old circus performer David Matz, who took to the stage with an unusual wheel to accompany him. Then came 22-year-old ballet dancer Stephen Jacobsen, who embarrassed himself with a corny performance. Nigel said that he should be shot for choreographing something that bad. Luckily, he redeemed himself by showing some of his strongest moves.

That's Tragic

Perhaps the most heart-wrenching story of the night was from the final two contestants, brother and sister Marshea Kidd and Jasmine Mason. Six weeks before auditioning, both of them were in a car accident that nearly cost Marshea his life. Even though he broke his neck and spent two days in a coma, Marshea auditioned and received a ticket to Vegas.
