America’s Got Talent: Season 7, Episode 7 and 8 :: Austin Auditions

Jun 05, 2012

This week on America’s Got Talent (Season 7, Episode 7 and 8), the judges continue their audition tour in Austin, Texas. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Austin Auditions,” which aired on June 4, 2012, to discover what you missed.

The Human Cannonball

Austin, Texas, has an explosion of talent...quite literally. David Smith Jr - the self-proclaimed human cannonball - brought the entire audience outside in the rain to perform his stunt. He shot himself out of a cannon and landed in a net that was weighed down by the rain. Luckily, he survived the stunt and the judges couldn’t wait to see him again in Vegas.

It’s a Balancing Act

While the other performances weren’t quite as exciting, there were still some notable acts. Sebastien “El Chorro De Oro” - a 10-year-old Spanish singer - had the crowd on its feet within seconds of beginning his performance. Next, the Bandbaz Brothers performed an amazing balancing act that involved one man holding another man up by his teeth. Yikes!

Singing Through the Stutter

The most touching story of the night came from 35-year-old Tim Poe. He suffered a brain injury from a grenade explosion while serving in Afghanstan, which left him with a speech impediment. Now the only time he doesn’t stutter is when he sings. He sang his heart out, and the judges couldn’t have been more impressed.

Day 2 in Austin

The judges' second day in Austin brought a whole new wave of competitors. The Aurora Light Painters displayed a unique art form. They danced with lights, which painted a picture on the screen above them. Next, guitar player and singer Eric and Olivia impressed two out of three judges with their bluesy rendition of Moves Like Jagger.

Blowing the Judges' Minds

Another Eric hit the stage and blew the judges minds...with mind reading. After blindfolding himself with duck tape, he asked each of the judges to draw something on a sheet of paper. He then had Nick Cannon hold the images over his head so the audience could see and guessed each one of them right! It was truly amazing. The final performance of the night was totally unexpected. Andrew De Leon, a 19-year-old goth with crazy contacts and big time insecurities, sang in public for the very first time on the AGT stage. Even his parents, who were in the audience, hadn't heard him sing before. His opera was truly beautiful.
