Frances Bean Cobain Bio

Sep 02, 2012

Celebrity and creativity often go hand in hand for children in famous families, and Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Hole singer Courtney Love and iconic grunge rocker Kurt Cobain is no exception. Frances has the rock and roll anything goes style, much like her parents, but in a new twist has expressed herself artistically through visual art and modelling. Find out more about her in her Kidzworld Bio!

Rockstar Roots

Born in Los Angeles, California to arguably two if the most influential musicians of their time, 20-year-old Frances Bean Cobain has been “alternative” her whole life. Life hasn’t always been easy for this celebrity child though, her father Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain committed suicide when she was just a baby and her mother, Hole front woman Courtney Love, has publicly struggled with substance abuse her whole life. Despite this she has done her best to stay out of the limelight and have a normal childhood, having only ever granted five official interviews in her whole life. Frances has been raised by both her mother and her grandmother and a very close aunt.

Model Child

Frances’ debut into the world of media came when she was 13-years-old, she agreed to be a part of a photo shoot for Elle magazine in 2006 of celebrity children wearing their parents clothes, she decided to wear the clothes her dad got married in – a brown cardigan and a pajama pants!

"I wore his pajamas because he got married in them to my mom in 1992 in Hawaii so I thought they would be cute if I wore them today. He was too lazy to put on a tux so he got married in pajamas!"

Since then Frances has modelled in Harper's Bazaar in 2008 and last August (2011) was the subject of photographer Hedi Slimane’s web series. In this time she also interned at Rolling Stone magazine.

Art Start

Not content to simply be the subject of art, Franes began to create her own visual art under the pseudonym “Fiddle Tim”, which she began to release to the public in 2010. She showed her work in the summer at La Luz de Jesus gallery in Los Angeles. Around this time she also gained the rights to father’s estate, and now has control over his image and recordings. She also got engaged to musician Isaiah Silva in October of last year.
