So You Think You Can Dance: Season 9, Episode 13 :: Top 6 Perform

Sep 06, 2012

This week on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 9, Episode 13), the Top 6 each performed solos, a routine with their all-star partners, and a routine with one of the remaining contestants. Read Kidzworld’s recap of the “Top 6 Perform,” which aired on September 5, 2012, to discover what you missed.

The All-Star Performances

Tiffany and season 2's winner Benji opened the show with an energetic jive which earned them a standing ovation. Mary called Benji the best swing dancer they've ever had on the show, and somehow Tiffany managed to keep up with him.

Cole joined all-star Melanie for a Sonya Teyah jazz routine about a man who desires freedom from his relationship. The piece was unique because of how many times Melanie had to lift Cole. Guest judge Christina Applegate loved how androgynous the piece was. She couldn't tell where one gender ended and the next began.

Eliana and all-star Twitch performed a hip hop number about a woman with a letter and a mailman she has a crush on. Nigel felt the routine relied too much on character and not enough on technique for Eliana, although Mary still thought she was memorable.

Chehon and all-star Kathryn teamed up for a Tyce Diorio contemporary routine about all the tragedy around the world. The judges felt the incredible emotion and passion embedded into this number. Mary even pointed out how moved Chehon was by his own movement.

Witney and all-star Marco performed a lyrical jazz piece about a wedding day that the bride desperately wants to escape. The judges all thought that the pair danced beautifully together.

Cyrus and all-star Comfort were the perfect pairing for their dubstep hip hop number. They earned a standing ovation from the judges. Mary said how nice it was to see him dance in his "comfort zone," a pun which earned her many applause.

The Dancers Team Up

Original partners Witney and Chehon reunited for a cha-cha, which was Witney's own style. Unfortunately for Chehon, ballroom is not his forte. The judges said he looked uncomfortable and stiff, and as a result, he didn't show Witney off to the best of her ability either.

Cole and Eliana tackled an amazing Mia Michaels contemporary routine inspired by hatred and rams. The piece was purely mesmerizing. Christina noticed there was a picture at every moment when Eliana danced.

Closing the night, Tiffany and Cyrus performed a Broadway number about two frisky teens in the 50's. Mary called it the cutest routine ever! And Tiffany apologized twice to her father for some of the inappropriate moves in the number.

Elimination

Based on last week's votes, America decided which four dancers will be moving on to next week's finale show. They are Tiffany and Eliana, and Chehon and Cyrus. Unfortunately, that means we say goodbye to Witney and Cole.
