Nintendo is kicking off the next generation of gaming with the Wii U! Check out our review for all the details!

The Wii U is out! Nintendo has taken the lead into the next generation of gaming with their first HD console. The new console features a cool gamepad and launches with lots of great games.

U for Upgrade

Almost everything about the Wii U is a straight upgrade of the original Wii. The console is now more powerful and provides a HD video feed to your TV. You can still play on the Wii U using your Motionplus controllers and even the old infrared sensor bar from the Wii. Things like the internet features, adding friends online, and even Miis have been improved a lot. Of course, the newest addition with the Wii U is the new gamepad with the built-in touchscreen. Typically, only one player at a time will get to use the gamepad.

Strong Launch But Hold On

The Wii U launches with 29 games. There is definitely something for everyone in that mix. With titles like Scribblenauts Unlimited, Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, and ZombiU, it is quite possibly the strongest launch yet for a Nintendo console. However, it still may not be the best time to pick one up for your home. The cost of the Wii U is still fairly high and it may be a good idea to see how fast people get bored of the new gamepad and other features. Also, we have yet to see the next generation of Xbox and PlayStation. Unless there is a game for the Wii U that you absolutely must play immediately, it is probably wise to wait a few months before committing to a new console.
