American Idol: Season 12, Week 5 :: Hollywood Week Part 2

Feb 14, 2013

This week on American Idol (Season 12, Week 5), it's the girls turn to duke it out for a spot in the top 20. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Hollywood Week Part 2,” which aired on February 13th, 2013 to discover what you missed.

The Girls' Round

Hollywood week begins again and it feels like deja vu. The only difference is that it's the girls taking the stage. At 162, there are far more females than there were male contestants last week. Perhaps a female will win Idol this year. They're certainly overdue.

Crazy Kezban

Like last week, this week began with a cappella solos. It was a quick and painful way to cut the competition down into a more manageable size. After that came the group round, and there was no shortage of drama. The unfortunate girls who landed in a group with the quirky, overly energetic Kezban handled themselves well, even when Kezban strayed away in search of food. In spite of Kezban's craziness, her voice was unique enough to earn her a spot in the next round, along with the rest of her group.

Questionable Cuts

Other unfortunate groups had butchered harmonies, forgotten lyrics and more M.I.A group members on account of being divas or simply struggling to fit in. Some of the judges' decisions were questionable. Many talented girls were sent home simply because they didn't stand out as much as the rest of their group, while other worse singers remained because they were the best of their horrendous groups. I guess in group round, it pays to be the best of the worst.

Tonight, the American Idol judges watch the girls final solos and make cuts in both the male and female categories. Check back tomorrow for the recap.
