The Vampire Diaries: Season 4, Episode 20 :: The Originals

Apr 26, 2013

This week on The Vampire Diaries (Season 4, Episode 20), Klaus heads to New Orleans. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “The Originals”, which aired April 25th, 2013, to find out what you missed. The episode is the pilot for a proposed new spin-off series called The Originals that will air on The CW.

The Trip

After receiving a tip from Katherine, Klaus heads to New Orleans to solve the mystery of who has been plotting against him. Elijah decides to help him out, although Rebekah refuses. When Klaus gets to the city he pays a visit to a fortune teller, who directs him to Marcel, an old vampire acquaintance who seems to have control over all of the supernatural beings in New Orleans. He introduces Klaus to the community of witches, who seem to have some sort of plan for him. Klaus decides he wants to reclaim his control over the city.

The Pregnancy

Meanwhile, Elijah stumbles across Hayley in the streets of New Orleans and learns that she is pregnant…with Klaus’ child! Hayley is in town because she is also having troubles with some of the New Orleans witches. She looks up two witch sisters, Sophie and Jane-Anne, but Marcel has reached them first. Apparently Marcel is angry with Jane-Anne and claims she has been breaking the rules of witchcraft. She pleads for one more chance but he decides to kill her.

The Plan

Elijah, Klaus and Sophie meet up at the cemetery to try to come up with a plan to stop Marcel and give the power back to Klaus. Sophie claims that Hayley and the baby’s lives are controlled by Sophie, and if Klaus isn’t able to take down Marcel, they will both die. They decide the best way to accomplish this is for Klaus to make his way into Marcel’s inner circle and then make his move.

The Basement

Damon and Stefan still have Elena locked up in their basement and are determined to flip the switch to turn her humanity back on. Damon gives Elena a blood bag that is laced with vervain, hoping that it will make her angry and get her to feel something real. Elena issues a challenge: “Let’s see who breaks first, me or you”.
