So You Think You Can Dance: Season 10, Week 12 :: The Top 12 Perform/2 Eliminated

Aug 07, 2013

This week on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 10, Week 12), the couples dance with their partners for the final time before the top 10. Read Kidzworld’s recap of the “The Top 12 Perform/2 Eliminated” which aired on August 6th, 2013, to discover what you missed.

The Performances

Hayley and Nico tackled a difficult Broadway routine that earned a standing ovation from all three judges and the audience. Nigel called it one of the best Broadway routines they've ever had on the show. Mary loved their new partnership, and she adored how they made an instant chemistry.

Malece and Alan channeled the classics with a Mandy Moore jazz number. Guest judge Kenny Ortega said that Malece sparkles, though he wished there had been more chemistry. Nigel felt a little uncomfortable watching it. Sadly, he was disappointed. Being in the bottom three this week, will this be the couple's final performance in the competition?

Tucker had a knee infection this week and couldn't perform. So Jenna tackled their pirate-inspired Paso Doble with all-star Alex Wong. Mary loved it, and called Alex one of her favorite all-stars of all time. Kenny Ortega was so impressed that he said Jenna was his favorite dancer on the show.

Makenzie and Paul performed a contemporary routine about a forbidden love. They earned the second standing ovation of the night. Nigel complimented Makenzie on her breathing which was so important in this routine. Mary loved how they made it seem effortless.

Amy and Fik-Shun didn't have a character to embody this week. They simply performed the Viennese Waltz as themselves. Mary noticed some technical issues with the piece, though she thought there was something special about them, so much so that they brought Mary to tears.

Jasmine and Aaron performed a hip hop routine about a stage coach robber and a gold-digging girl in a saloon. This earned the third and final standing O of the night. Nigel said it best while quoting Ellen Degeneres: "Jasmine, you must be a carpenter on your spare time because, girl, you nailed it!"

Elimination

This week, the bottom three guys and girls consisted of Jenna, Malece, Amy, Alan, Nico, and Tucker. The judges opted to save Nico and Jenna, sending them straight into the top 10. After conferring with the choreographers, the judges decided to send Malece and Alan home.
