In the span of just a few hours, the city of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of the most furious twisters they’ve ever seen. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run toward the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, Into the Storm throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.

The Bottom Line

Now that it's turned winter, you probably hear people complaining about the weather all the time - well this movie is guaranteed to get them to put a sock in it. A little bit of chill in the air has nothing on what's happening to the elements in this film! Using the "found footage" gimmick to make the storm seem even more realistic, you can tell that this major thriller was designed to be an in-theatre experience. Even the trailer will get your heart pumping! Like many action thrillers, there's just enough sentimental storyline to keep you interested between the father, sons and stormchasers (but of course, a little more character development couldn't hurt) but what this movie really has to offer are "killer" special effects - which of course look incredible on Blu-ray.

Director Stephen Quale does a great job of the intense destruction scenes, and it may actually make you excited to hear about the real lives of stormchasers - in which case we definitely recommend "Into the Storm: Tornado Files" in the Special Features. Although Into the Storm isn't trying to be an Academy Award winner, it's still watchable for the intense big scale scenes of destruction, and the cast turns in a decent performance. If you're looking for some action fluff for non-serious movie night, this might be the ticket.
