Oct 18, 2020

Halloween will be here before you know it. It might only be one day out of the year, but for a lot of people it is their favorite holiday. Some people just love to dress up, and will plan more than one costume for the season. If you are wondering how you can get into the holiday spirit or are looking for ways to partake, look no further. Here are seven spooky and sweet things that you can do to help you celebrate the Halloween season.

Wishing everyone a very happy Halloween!Wishing everyone a very happy Halloween!

1. Carve Pumpkins

This is a great pre-Halloween activity to help prepare you for the big night. Visit your local pumpkin patch or grocery store, pick out some pumpkins that you like and carve them into jack-o-lanterns. Some people are better at this then others, but everyone can have fun doing it. If you are going for a detailed look you can use stencils, but skills don’t matter. It’s the thrill of cutting open your pumpkin, taking out all the seeds and gooey stuff, drawing on a design and carving away. Give your pumpkin character, and help decorate your dwelling. Every part of the pumpkin is good. Take those seeds, wash them off, lay them on a pan, add seasoning salt and put them in the oven. Roasted pumpkin seeds are delicious.

2. Plan a Sweet or Scary Costume

The best costumes come with time, so if you’re looking to win a costume contest, you better start your planning early. Creative costumes are great, but it’s also amazing when you pull off something classic and do a really good job with it. Usually there are a few popular Halloween costumes each year. You can get in line with those or try out your own idea. This is the essence of Halloween for many, getting to dress up. Some people have so many things that they want to be that they plan more than one costume. On the other hand, some people hate to dress up, and will result to minimal costumes if any at all.

Make it as scary or as friendly as you like. The sky is the limit with this one. It all depends on how far you want to go. You could get super crafty and it make it all that much scarier.  You can make or buy props and build on your scene. Some people take this to another level by putting on haunted houses, and decorating their whole house. This can be quite the exciting spectacle to experience.

However, if there is an interest, now is the best time for watching scary movies, and a lot of them. Netflix has a whole section dedicated to horror flicks. There are so many classics that you could watch, but it could be fun to host a Scream 1, 2, and 3 party or any other film that let to sequels.
