Make-A-Wish Foundation

Dec 27, 2006

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a charitable organization that grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. Since their start in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted over 97,000 wishes for children around the world.

Can Anyone Receive a Wish?

The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to, "grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy." In order for a child to qualify for a wish, their doctor must determine that they are medically qualified before their 18th birthday, (they must be diagnosed with some sort of life-threatening illness.) There are four wish categories - I wish to go..., I wish to meet..., I wish to be..., and I wish to have.... The only time a restriction will be put on a wish is if the wish-child is not physically well enough to do something. Otherwise, the sky's the limit!

Who Makes The Wishes Come True?

There are over 25,000 volunteers who help to keep the Make-A-Wish Foundation running smoothly. The foundation also relies on the generous donations of many corporations including General Motors, The Walt Disney Corporation, Delta Airlines and many more.
