Lilly Singh to Host Late Night Show on NBC

Apr 22, 2019

YouTuber Lilly Singh announced last month that she will be hosting a new late night show on NBC starting September 16th. And I, for one, cannot wait!

"A Little Late with Lilly Singh" will replace the long-running "Last Call with Carson Daly" and is set to debut in the 1:35 a.m. ET/10:35 p.m. PT time slot after "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Late Night with Seth Meyers." There is no set premiere date as of yet, but according to Lilly, the show will probably start sometime around September.

So what can we expect from the online star with nearly fifteen million YouTube subscribers? After getting out a serious of excited yells and a chorus of “I’m nervous, I’m nervous, I’m nervous!” in the video posted on her channel, Lilly drops that the half hour show will have sketch comedy and interviews, and we an only assume a star-studded slate of guests!

"A Little Late with Lilly Singh" TV Show Announcement

After years of building up a fan base around sketches where she dresses up as the crazy members of her family, collaborates with stars like Victoria Justice, Hasan Minaj, and The Rock, and comments on the battle of the sexes, it’s only natural that Lilly is making the transition from YouTube to network television. But not to fret, Team Super! Lilly is still going to be creating and uploading content to her YouTube channel, IISuperwomanII, and will be documenting the behind the scenes experience of creating her own late night show.

In her announcement, a clearly excited Singh picks up a sandal and holds it up like an Oscar while thanking her fans, her team, NBC, and all the women in television and late night who have paved the way for this incredible opportunity for her.

“An Indian-Canadian woman with a late night talk show? I would not be here without you.” Lilly earnestly exclaims before getting played off by her own Academy Awards music. Insert crying laughing emoji.

Lilly is joining the likes of Samantha Bee, Chelsea Handler, and Busy Phillips who have all burst through the glass ceiling in the late night and talk show worlds, and is the first woman in over thirty years (OMG!) to host a late night show on one of the four major networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX). It’s about time!
