The Amazon Rainforest - A Room With a View

Hope you aren't afraid of heights, cuz if you are the view from the top of a 40-meter high canopy observation tower might make your knees wobble a little. But from this height, you will definitely get an incredible view of the Amazon.

The Amazon Rainforest - The Adventure Begins

Your tour guides are a naturalist and a local guide so don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. Three meals a day are included in your trip, as well as all transportation, mosquito nets and rubber boots in case it's muddy. On the first day of your adventure to Panacocha, you will take a canoe ride from Coca along the river Napo to the Panacocha Lodge so be prepared to work those arm muscles. Actually, the canoe is motor powered so relax during the ride and keep an eye out for wildlife. Once you've reached the lodge, you'll hike through forest surrounded by lakes, rivers and streams. The time to use your arm muscles comes when you paddle through a maze of lagoons. Take some time out to swim or fish for piranhas. In the evenings, be on the lookout for caimans, a relative of alligators.

Saying Goodbye to the Amazon Rainforest

As you leave behind wild frontier, heading towards civilization you may have an opportunity to visit a local shaman in a Quichua community. Some locals believe the shaman can cure all illnesses by working with spirits and using something we would call magic.
