Man, like, what a time it's been for Scooby-Doo and the rest of Mystery Inc.! First off, the long awaited live action sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, arrived. And now, right behind it comes a brand new Xbox video game called Scooby Doo! Mystery Mayhem. So grab your Scooby snacks, sit back, and check out what we have to say about it.

Xbox's Scooby-Doo Mystery Mayhem: Story

Like any good episode of Scooby-Doo, Mystery Mayhem (which plays like five overlapping episodes) starts with the gang heading out to check out the rumors of some seriously spooky goings-on. We start in a spooky library, and from there hit a movie lot, a crazy wild west show, the Bayou and finally a super-high tech gadget company. It's all in an attempt to solve the mysteries and save the day.

Okay, there are a lot of cool things going for Scooby in this one. The first thing is that you play as both Shaggy and Scooby. Okay sure, when you're playing as one, the other just follows behind, but it's still pretty awesome to be able to mix it up. It's got tons of disguises, mini games, and the Tome of Doom (which you use to capture them pesky poltergeists). Let's not forget all the cool cutaways, voice talent (like far out man, far out!), classic laugh tracks, and gazillions of save points.

The biggest problem in this video game is the recycling of catch phrases used by Scooby and Shaggy. (We know you're scared guys. You really, really don't need to keep telling us). And then there's the increasing frustration factor. The frustration comes from the Tome of Doom not working exactly the way it should. It'll cause ya to have to restart levels more than once. Bummer, dude. Other than that, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem is easy. Like, way easy.
