The weirdest thing about the Zatch Bell card game is the Mamodo spellbooks. Rather than having a deck of cards, you get a spellbook to fill with your spells and other cards! You turn the pages in your spellbook when you take damage, and to generate energy to cast spells. The Zatch Bell spellbooks are cool, really cool. They're a great way to duel and to keep your cards organized. You get a Mamodo-themed spellbook in the starter pack. With boosters, you get cards for other Mamodos and can build spellbooks for Gofure, Fein, Reycom and more. The biggest bummer is how repetitive games can be. Shuffling a deck of cards means you'll get different cards each game but, in the Zatch Bell card game, you know exactly what cards you're getting.
