#10. Mary-Kate Olsen Leaves NYU

Okay, so this wasn't one of 2005's headlining news, but we included it cuz it's pretty pathetic. Mary-Kate Olsen took a temporary leave of absence from NYU and moved back to LA cuz she was so heartbroken over losing Stavros Niarchos to Paris Hilton. Breakups suck, but they're no reason to leave town!

#9. Ashlee Simpson's McDonalds' Meltdown

After taking the live out of Saturday Night Live last year, Ashlee Simpson made another spectacle of herself in November. During a late-night munchies run at a McDonalds in Toronto, Canada, a drunken Ashlee got into a verbal sparring match with a restaurant employee after she tried to climb onto the counter. In her defense, she had acid reflux.

#8. The End of Paris and Nicole

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's friendship bottomed out when Nicole reportedly showed a personal home video of the famous hotel heiress to some friends at a party. Nicole has repeatedly denied it and insists that she and Paris simply grew apart. Despite their feud, the two will be starring in the fourth season of The Simple Life.

During NBC's Concert for Hurricane Relief to raise money for Katrina victims, Kanye West announced that President George W. Bush "doesn't care about black people." The dude who was in charge of censoring didn't realize that Kanye had gone off-script, so the East Coast peeps saw the whole thing, but his comments were edited out of the West Coast airing.

After Jude Law confessed to having an affair with his children's nanny, Sienna Miller dumped him... and then took him back. Then he dumped her... and then took her back. The on-again, off-again couple have broken up and gotten back together more times than they change socks that their relationship simply stinks now.

This year, Nicole Richie joined the growing number of Hollywood starlets who've been accused of having eating disorders. Going from curvaceous to sickeningly skinny, she claimed her huge and sudden weight loss was a result of working out four times a week. Hollywood's golden couple, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, called it quits amid rumors that he cheated on her with Angelina Jolie. The family man is now in the middle of adopting Maddox and Zahara, who will take on the surname Jolie-Pitt. Aw, how nice.

At first, we thought it was just a creepy publicity stunt, but Tom Cruise - who went from Mr. Cool to Mr. Crazy - proposed to Katie Holmes and sealed the deal with a French kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Katie is now preggers with Tom's baby, studying Scientology and cheering on his daughter, Isabella, at her soccer games.

Britney Spears married Kevin Federline and gave birth to a baby boy, Sean Preston, thus completing her mission to be a wife and mother by the age of 23. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to have a happy ending, with numerous reports of K-Fed being a bad dad who leaves Brit with the dirty diapers. So she kicked him out of the house, sent his Ferrari back to the dealership and threatened him with divorce - and all he did was beg for the Ferrari back.
