The Snow White story gets a modern twist in Sydney White, starring Amanda Bynes. Weve got the review of this freshman fairytale!

Amanda Bynes and Sara Paxton star in Sydney White, a college twist on the classic story of Snow White. We've got the 411 on this freshman fairytale!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Sydney White (Amanda Bynes) is more comfortable on a construction site than she is in a mall, because she was raised by her single, plumber father after her mother died when Sydney was a child. But Sydney's going to get a chance to get in touch with her inner girly girl now that she's heading off to college - and her mother's former sorority.

Who's the Fairest of Them All?

Sydney isn't at college long before she realizes that her mom's sorority isn't the sweet sisterhood it used to be. In fact, it's lead by a catty, spiteful president named Rachel (Sara Paxton) who will crush anything - and anyone - who gets in her way. Poor Sydney soon realizes that Rachel has her in her sights.

The Queen is Dead

Sydney aligns herself with a posse of seven popularity-challenged dudes to end Rachel's vice-like grip on the student council. All the while Rachel's frat boy ex-boyfriend is chasing after Syd. But can she trust him? And how low will Rachel stoop in her efforts to maintain control of the school? You'll have to buy a ticket to find out!

DVD Features

The Sydney White DVD comes packed with special features, including - appropriately - seven different featurettes like The Original Dork: Rubix Cube, Kappa's Forever, and Sydney White and Her Prince. It also has deleted scenes, a gag reel, and the original theatrical trailer.

The Bottom Line

Romantic comedies tend to follow a formulaic path, but the makers of Sydney White really took predictability to the next level with this lazy, product-placement heavy fairytale. The performances by the perky [KWLINK1780]Amanda Bynes[/KWLINK] and ice-cold Sara Paxton were admirable, but unfortunately they weren't enough to save this poisoned apple.
